Unique engagement rings and Giveaway winner!

Fab FindsChristine BretonComment

When I attended the Love, handmade show I noticed something really fun and different about the stunning engagement rings on the brides to be! Bride after bride had coloured engagement rings, which were just stunning! I love  how the coloured stones set the engagement rings apart, and really suited each woman's personality!

If I were to be getting engaged again (which isn't happening, since I'm a happily married woman!) here are a few picks for engagement rings that I would rock in a heartbeat!

Which of these would be your pick? Are you recently engaged and received a coloured stone? I would love to hear!

And now to announce the winner of the Love, handmade show giveaway winner! Congratulations to Carly and her fiancé who are getting married this August! We'll be busy getting these invites out ASAP, so stay tuned to see the behind the scenes process for designing these invites, as well as the final result!

LaFabere Love, handmade 2016 recap

As I'm sure you might have seen on our Instagram feed,  we had the pleasure of attending this years Love, handmade show. We were honoured to be hand selected by the extremely talented and lovely Meaghan Brunetti of The Handmade Bride, a sweet and stylish bridal salon located in the heart of Ottawa. So many talented local vendors were on hand to chat with brides and grooms looking for quality, unique, and handmade for the wedding day.

Here are some pics of the day, if you would like to see.

The booth backdrop and display table were skillfully built with the help of my dear husband and dad, and their hard work really paid off! I got so many compliments on our booth, I was blushing the whole day!

Makin' It Lovely was so gracious to share her beautiful decor pieces with us to display our artwork at the show! She has such a fantastic selection of items, it was hard to narrow down which ones to use! She is so pleasant and friendly, thanks so much Mélissa!

Guest Post - Natalie Cox Design

I'm so thrilled to be sharing today's guest post by the super talented Natalie Cox! Natalie's interiors are so beautifully designed, and she has mad colour and pattern mixing skill!

Here's Natalie's post on how to style a beautiful home office!

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about creating beautiful and functional office spaces. I have many friends and colleagues that work out of their home and it’s so important to create a space that you are inspired to work in. When Christine asked me to design a room inspired by one of her gorgeous prints I knew exactly what to do.

Moodboard by Natalie Cox Design for LaFabère

To make the print pop off the wall I chose a rich green/blue colour called Dragonfly by Benjamin Moore. This deep tone would give the room a rich library feel. A wood bookcase filled with books and light coloured accessories would add to this look perfectly!

When I sit down to design a room the first thing I decide is what is the “Wow” in the space. In this case it would certainly be this lovely print, closely followed by the faux roman shade. Then items are layered in for balance and function.

What does your office space look like? Please share something you are inspired by!

Can handmade = luxury?

LaFabere talks handmade and luxury wedding invitations

Short answer: YES!

Now here is why. As an artist and hand crafter, I put my heart and soul into each of my projects. Hours of researching reference material, the history behind a project, the best quality materials to produce the project. You can expect quality and attention to small details from an artisan, because they do what they do for the love of the craft and to give people something unique and one of a kind.

The invitations and prints created by LaFabère are so carefully crafted and produced. We take pride in delivering invitations that are really unique and wow guests by adding beautiful details that are crafted by hand. You can expect attention to detail on every single invitation that gets sent out. The little details like antique lace, velvet ribbon, hand cut paper flags, hand painted textures and patterns, high quality archival paper and inks for printing... Careful attention to colour and fabric choices that will highlight your wedding day details. Getting me to know each couple we work with, what they're into, how they met, their engagement story.  These details are what make our handcrafted products luxury.
